Mug Rug

Mug Rugs are fun to make as they are quick, use up scraps and are useful.  I like those that you can not only put a mug on it but also a cookie or snack.  I made this one for a trade with another Modern Quilt Guild

Happy Birthday MOM

Today my Mom would have turned 100. So in honor or her birthday I'm doing her favorites..eating chocolate, Cheetos and cookies; knitting; and reading the morning Star Telegram. Mom loved reading the paper each morning and the day before she died when I talked with her she gave me the low down on all that was in the paper. Thank you Lord for a Mom who loved me unconditionally.

March BOM Fort Worth Modern Quilt Guild

A simple pattern so many times brings out the beauty of colors as the materials hold court.  This  pattern  would be a great scrappy block to use those small pieces we just can't throw away, but don't know what we will use them for.  The color squares are cut 1.5inches so they can indeed use small amounts. Fun, easy simple beauty ...it's a good thing.

Swaparoo Gifts Received

I participated in a Swap that was hosted by Tami's Electic Corner blog  Tami's link.  It was a great way to meet another blogger and just have fun learning about each other and sending a package with 4-5 gifts.  My partner Patti lives in Utah, married with one young daughter.  I loved getting to know her  and just enjoyed meeting someone.  Thank You Patti!
I got the cutest hot chocolate pin cushion, pins, a Yoga tape, mug, GC and fabric.  This is being spoiled for sure.

Covert Robin Swap revealed

I was beyond excited when a package from South Africa has my name on it!  WOW  all the way across  the world.  My secret partner Nicola made me the BEST things ever and sent candy too.  The bag she made already has a knitting project in it.  It is a perfect size and so much better than the plastic bag I had the sock knitting in.  Then the cutest "ditty" bag to put all kinds of things into.  Then the cleaverest  button magnets that I have in my sewing room on the file cabinet with pictures of future projects hanging under them.  The most special letter was in the package and I loved the personal touch and getting to know Nicola and about her life.  Thank you Nicola, these will be treasured items in my life. I will love to participate again in Covert Robin's swaps.

Orange Paint Chip Wonky Challenge

The Fort Worth Modern Quilt Guild's challenge is the paint chip challenge.  I got orange and had the perfect fat quarters in in my stash Decadence by  Riley Blake. I chose a wonky courthouse pattern.  It is not quilted yet, but I love how it turned out.  I had the perfect weekend with my quilting friends at Linda's Retreat in Sadler, Texas to get it all together.  So a great weekend, super friends and enough food to satisfy any time of day made is fun to do something I would not have done...I would not have used orange as the color of my choice.  But I love it.  I really really like it.

Covert Robin Winging Way to Canada

I got my Covert Robin gift(s) in the mail on the 29th of March.  I do wonder how long it will take to get to my CRpartner in Canada.  I have been told that it could take several weeks depending on how it is handled in customs in Canada.  I would think that seeing the short form I completed that they would not be too concerned about some law breaking item being sent into Canada from Texas.  Along with the thread caddie I made there are items to support bag making.  My partner makes awesome bags, something I am not into but can imagine how fulfilling it would be to make them.  Here's to having fun on the internet swaps.  Glad I participated and look forward to receiving from my CRpartner.
