OK, tried my hand at making fabric bowls. Really easy to do and a great way to use up the the last of a jelly roll( 2.5" strips) or scraps but can say they are not my thing. They are very easy to do but not sure what I would do with them or how many one person really needs...But I can say, yes I did that so I can check it off my list and add to my accomplishments in the category of I know how and could show others how.
Needles in hand to quilt, sew, knit and in general release creative energy within. Grab a needle and come along.

I know what you mean about trying out things and being able to do them but admitting they are not really your thing. But for me, making these bowls have proven to be very relaxing, almost meditative in the wrapping of the clothesline, and keeps me interested as I try out different fabrics, shapes, etc. I have given quite a few away as gifts which, if I can trust the comments of recipients, were well received. But yes, eventually I will run out of people to gift them to. Then again, I've run into the same problem with my quilts. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am so on your thoughts of it being meditative! it was when making the strips for sure, something peaceful to just let the machine run...After this post I had a friend call as ask if I could make some bowls for her to sell at a booth in a local art event that benefits a local charity. So I guess there will be more in my future (HEHE).
DeleteWell there ya go! It's my understanding that these bowls do sell well at charity events. Enjoy making with a defined purpose. :-)
